Subjects:

Ten people took part in my Alpha Site Review. Three were from the EdTec 541 class, the others were friends and family. Almost all indicated they would be interested in testing the final product.

Think Aloud Task:

Find the information about each individual beer.  I also asked everyone to review the site for navigation, ease of use, color scheme, logical positioning of information, plus asked for any other reaction or comment they had.

Summary of the Think Aloud:

Everyone easily found the individual beer descriptions: go to the beer page, rollover a bottle, and the information about that beer shows up below. The color scheme and background imagery were universally popular. They had a positive response to all the artwork (label designs, logo, ads) included on the site. Navigation was found easy to use and self-explanatory.

Summary of the Post-test Interview:

All users could tell the site was incomplete at this point. Certain links went nowhere, The over/under 21 splash page link was not finalized yet, there was a different color scheme on the storefront page and no products yet – they wanted to see coming soon listed, and for the individual beers to have their own page. Several people commented that the beer bottles were too dark at the bottom.
Many of the comments were ones I expected due to the incomplete state of the website, however some were very interesting, such as suggesting an automatic email set up to tell people about the latest beer of the month or season.

Findings to be Implemented:

As a result of the test comments I plan on making these changes:
