Problem, Need or Opportunity

Aztec Brewery Company (ABC) was actually begun in the 1920s during prohibition in Tecate, Mexico. After prohibition ended, the brewery was moved to San Diego. In the 1950’s the brewery was purchased by a larger brewery that was in LA. The men who created the original brand moved back down to Tecate, Mexico and started a new brewery, creating the now famous Tecate Beer.

We recently renewed the trademark and are trying to re-establish the brewery. By using a website we hope to bring the brewery to the attention of a larger population much more quickly than traditional advertising would. We also want to use it as a marketing tool for the additional products we will be producing to go along with the beer - including a clothing line and decorative items.

Audience

The intended audience for this website would be patrons over the age of 21 for the beer, but also people of all ages for the side products we will be producing, which will include t-shirt, jackets, signs, buttons, posters, and other artwork. Eventually we hope to start a brew pub as well located near San Diego State.

Although we will use the beer as the main focus of our marketing efforts, we also want to emphasize the historical value of the name. ABC was an important part of San Diego history. The name ties in with the local school. It also stresses the importance of Mexico to our local culture.

User Needs

Environment

I shall try to develop this website so it is user friendly on as many browser versions as possible. Plus make the format size useable for the standard sized monitor as well as eventually allow for easy access on mobile devices.

Resources and Limitations

The text for the site will be based on the historical documents we have found that refer to the breweries long history. We also have historical photos to upload to the site. The remainder of the text will be written by my husband and myself. We will include the story of how we got involved in the brewery and where we plan to go with it in the future.

General Solution

I hope that the site will stimulate interest in the brewery to help us revive it more quickly. It will also make it more possible to reach a wider audience than just local patrons. Building up the brewery is a long term goal, the website is just one of the beginning steps we are taking. I plan to continually update this website as the need arises. One that is easy to revise will be ideal.
