Accessibility & Assessment - Choosing the Craft Brew for You

Usability Testing

Audience

The first audience who tested my tutorial were two fellow EdTec 671 students, Marie Garcia and Joaquin Ortiz. They both mentioned parts that could use some minor changes. Both felt they had learned something from the project. Dr. Hoffman asked if I had made sure the website was fully user accessible.

I followed this up by posting the link to my url on my FaceBook page, as I am hoping the final product will appeal to a broader base of user. I had 6 people respond. Most had vague comments (Looks great). Some were more specific. I also asked my husband to review the project.

Results

Overall there was a positive response to the material covered and the overall design of the product. Information given was easy to understand and clearly presented.

There were a few mistakes that were noted:

1. Make sure that the correct answer to quiz questions was clearly noted< br /> 2. Correct a few typos and grammatical errors< br /> 3. Add the final pages/wrap up questions to give a sense of completion< br /> 4. Add a link to the "Lesson" text on the navigation menu< br /> 5. Indicate how many pages were in each of the lessons< br /> 6. Fix the factual errors< br /> 7. Noticed that the arrows at the bottom of the page would cover up text when viewed on an iphone< br />

Revisions

1. I made sure the right answer included the word “correct” in it, instead of just having the text in green
2. Corrected typos and grammatical errors (found a few more as well)
3. Added the final questions and a page with closing remarks
4. Changed ODD Flavors to OFF Flavors
5. Corrected factual information about malt and grain. (I am a brew newbie too -- just learning. But this made me realize how important it is to check your facts with the SME before publishing)
6. Tightened the design up a bit, moved the arrows down to the footer and reduced the size of the copyright, web url to fit under the left side image

I also added the option of skipping the questions if people want to read through the content without being tested. I had my husband review the project one more time and he said it was improved. As far as I can tell the website is user accessible.

I plan on turning this test product into a live info-tutorial to help people learn more about the craft brewing business.
